I got another chance to photograph around Gowanus, Brooklyn and Soho with Nick and Kimberly. Nick loved the industrial and edgy look of their neighborhood and Kimberly liked the polished and chic look of Soho (where they work). So we were able to combine their personalities into their engagement session and hit up both areas! It was such a great time because they allowed me to be creative and free with them and we found some really amazing spaces to photograph at. It’s so awesome to be able to capture these photographs for them for the future!! It was also awesome because one of these shots was featured in the New York Times!! I am so thankful they chose me to be their new york city wedding photographer!! They will be getting married in California next year! Here are some of my favorite shots!
NYC Engagement Session in the West Village & Oculus World Trade Center Building
Fall is always a beautiful time for engagement photo shoots! The sunsets begin earlier, the nights a little chillier, but there’s nothing a DKA from Dominque Ansel in New York City can’t fix! Check out this adorable NYC engagement session with Jessica & Arcadius shot in the West Village and then some at the Oculus World Trade Center in downtown Manhattan! We were able to capture the randomness of NYC (including some random group shot of kids hanging out) and the chill of October has got nothing on sweet kisses, smores, wine and an awesome time together! I was so thankful to be their new york city wedding photographer and the following year photographed their wedding at City Winery! Here are some of the highlights of our engagement photo session:
Central Park, New York City Engagement Photography Session
There's quite a few funny stories to surround this engagement session. Our first date was overtaken by a massive flash flood thunderstorm warning in New York City - so we had to reschedule. On the day of the reschedule, it said 0% of rain, yet still managed to have a few drops come down on us. The weather in New York City is SO unpredictable. But we were still determined (because their wedding is coming up soon in August!) and Margaret and Jing are super sweet and patient people!! We had also planned to do the shoot in Central Park.. and when we got there we realize that the NYC Philharmonic free concert was happening the same night! There were floods and floods of people entering Central Park--but we didn't let that get in our way! We got all the shots we needed and then finished up the shoot at Hudson River Park with some great waterfront shots. Even through all the obstacles--the shoot ended up being a ton of fun and we got some awesome shots!! You never know what to expect here in New York City - that’s why with weddings you have to be able to be flexible and go with the flow!
